Hi! I am Besim Avci and welcome to my personal website. Here is my may-not-be-so-up-to-date resume.

I finished my Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Northwestern University. My research was centered around spatio-temporal data management.

Currently, I am working as a software engineer at Google as part of Cloud AI team. Before that, I was an applied scientist at Amazon. All my time at Amazon, I worked on a conversational shopping assistant project. I built natural language understanding for the assistant.

On this website, you may find blog posts about spatial data, machine learning, neural networks, recommender systems, or research in general. My main focus will probably be the topics I DON’T do at work. [A note after 2 years later: I am not doing this at all:)]

Personally, I am passionate about the data in general.
